This article focuses on helping you learn how to help your overweight child lose weight. There are a lot of parents out there who are struggling because their child is overweight and they don’t know what to do.

Today, I want to share three key pieces of information with you that can help your child lose weight and keep it off. When you are done reading this article, you will have three new strategies to help your child.

The first thing parents need to understand is why their child is overweight. You have to diagnose the problem. For most parents, the problem is that their child does not eat right or is not active enough.

There is a reason the obesity rate in children has climbed. According to the Center for Disease Control, childhood obesity has risen dramatically over the last 5 – 10 years. Statistics show kids today do not eat as well as they used to and are not as active.

I could sit here and point fingers all day long at the reasons why childhood obesity is continuously climbing, but you are looking for solutions to the problem, right? Let’s take a look at three ways to help your children be healthier.

The first tip I want to share with you is: “lead by example.” Chances are if kids are overweight, the parents are overweight as well. The first step is to take a look at your habits as a parent.

Kids follow the example their parents set. If the parents eat healthily, chances are the child will eat better too. If you’re active, then your child will be more active. So the first step is to take an honest look at your habits. Are you leading by example?

The next tip I have for you is: “be more active with your child.” It’s very likely your child will need some encouragement to get off the couch, shut off their video games, and go outside and play.

The best way to encourage them is to do it with them. This goes back to the first tip. Lead by example by going out to play with and encourage your child. The goal should be to get your child active for an hour a day and to keep them having fun.

You do not have to go out and do a physical fitness regimen with your child. Just getting them outside running, playing, and getting their heart rate up will help to boost their metabolism and get them burning fat.

The last tip I want to share with you is: “have healthier eating habits.” My son is one of the pickiest eaters I know. It used to be so frustrating trying to get him to eat healthy food.

At a very young age, all he wanted was chicken nuggets and ketchup. He would eat corn and a few other veggies, but it was like pulling teeth getting him to try new foods. For the first few years of his life, he simply would not eat meat.

I came up with a great idea that worked really well for us. SThe whole family had to grow a garden together. My son jumped at the chance to dig in dirt and plant seeds.

As the plants grew and the vegetables came, he got excited and wanted to try them because he had been a part of growing the vegetables. Every day, he would run outside and check to see what new fruits and vegetables were ready to pick.

My son now loves trying new foods and likes to eat food that fuels his body and gives him good vitamins and nutrients. The best part is: a lot of them are grown in our backyard, making them the healthiest option he can get.

In closing, you have to set the example for your child to help them learn the right way to eat and be physically active. The earlier you start these healthy habits with your child, the better chance they have in the life of being healthy and fit.

As a bonus, you’ll find that setting a good example for getting your child to be healthy will also help you be healthier and have better habits.
